At SDC Nepal, we are working to bring clean water and hope to families in need by installing handpumps — a simple but life-changing solution in remote villages without clean water.

🔍 How We Choose Beneficiaries

We don’t install handpumps randomly. Our team does a field visit and chooses families or areas based on proper assessments and local needs. We give priority to:

• Areas with no nearby water source
• Families with orphans, widows, or disabled persons
• Communities walking long distances to fetch water

🚰 Why Handpumps?

In many parts of Nepal, people still drink dirty water. Handpumps give access to clean groundwater, directly near their homes. It saves time, prevents diseases, and supports daily life.

💰 Handpump Cost & Depth

Cost depends on how deep we need to dig for water:

• Up to 60 feet — around NPR 25,000
• 75 to 90 feet — around NPR 35,000 to NPR 40,000
• Above 90 feet — cost increases depending on depth

⏱️ Time & Process

Once approved, each handpump takes 1–2 days to install depending on soil condition and weather.

We fully document the process with:

• Before and after photos
• Short video clips of the digging and final working handpump
• Location details and GPS if needed

🛠️ Lifespan & Maintenance

With proper care, each handpump lasts around 8 to 10 years. We also train locals on basic maintenance, so it continues to benefit families long-term.
