Sharing the Blessings of Eid: Samaj Bikash Samiti's Qurbani Distribution

Qurbani is an act of worship and a means of sharing the joy of Eid-ul-Adha with families who may otherwise have little or no access to fresh meat.

“Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice (to Him only).” — Qur’an 108:2

SDC Nepal’s Qurbani programme in Eastern Nepal uses buffalo and goats exclusively. Animals are procured responsibly, handled through appropriate local arrangements and sacrificed in accordance with Islamic requirements and applicable Nepalese rules.

Beneficiary households are identified through a documented assessment process. Distribution prioritises orphans, vulnerable single women, people with disabilities and families experiencing poverty. Photographs and reporting are handled with dignity and privacy.

For planning, goat Qurbani is approximately NPR 22,000–25,000. Buffalo contribution options are confirmed from current local quotations before each seasonal appeal. Final rates depend on live weight, location, slaughter, transport and distribution costs.
